Even though the breeder may have had a dog, yours will sound and smell different. Children always react individually. Other cats in your home have developed a comfort zone and hierarchy that now will need to be challenged and re-established. So you can reasonably expect a couple of challenges and even down right fights.

Socialization is a must for this breed. Taking a weekly drive, safely from the confines of a crate can be a large benefit.

If you intend to show this animal, or even just go for routine vet visits, this can immensely lessen the stress and trauma if your cat is used to riding in a car in his carrier.

Some stores still stock the old-fashioned cardboard carriers, and we do not recommend these. They are not secure. Your kitty can easily chew out, push out, or simply weigh enough to break through the bottom of this type of container. A crate such as those with plastic sides and a metal door front are what we use and recommend and never, under any circumstances allow a cat to ride loose in your vehicle.
